Luuka, Uganda: The Chairperson of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC), Prof Dr Muhamadi Lubega Kisambira, has called on politicians and community members to put aside post-election divisions and prioritise unity to drive service delivery and development.
Dr Lubega, who also serves as First Deputy Prime Minister of Busoga Kingdom, made the remarks while officiating at an event organised by the Luuka Tweyambe Development Association in Luuka Town Council, where members extended seed capital support to Assistant RDC Ntogona Umaru and his wife, Kyazike Hafusa.
The UMSC boss emphasised that political differences arising from previous elections should not derail collective efforts aimed at improving livelihoods.
“Unity, cooperation and hard work are critical if we are to transform our communities,” he said. “I implore associations to minimise unnecessary costs such as excessive spending on entertainment, tents and logistics, so that beneficiaries receive meaningful financial support without deductions.”
He further encouraged development associations to embrace shared responsibility and focus on impactful initiatives that directly uplift communities.
Leaders Rally Behind Development Agenda

The Woman MP-elect for Luuka District, Annet Nabirye, commended Assistant RDC Ntogona for championing development initiatives despite his demanding role in government.
“Luuka District is truly blessed to have capable RDCs who have proven their ability to deliver. The major goal remains the development of Luuka District,” she said, while also appreciating Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for government poverty eradication programmes.
Luuka Resident District Commissioner Michael Kibwika praised the association members for their resilience and unity, urging them to maintain a collective spirit to sustain growth.
Similarly, LC5 Chairperson-elect Peter Kafuko Mulyandawo highlighted the importance of organised groups in driving economic empowerment, pledging to mobilise Luuka natives living outside the district to contribute to local development.
Dr. Lubega also used the platform to reflect on his personal relationship with Ntogona Umaru, describing him as disciplined, hardworking, and committed to public service. He urged him to maintain these values in his leadership roles.
The event attracted several district leaders, including Luuka District Speaker Bikumbi Ronald, Busoga East Police Spokesperson ASP Michael Kasadha, District Police Commander Diana Namutunzi, ARDC Julius Blessing Mubi, and members of the Luuka Patriots Association led by SP Richard Isanga Kawowo.
