Kampala, Uganda: Uganda’s U-17 Head coach, Laryea Kingston, has named a 27-man provisional squad for the junior national team ahead of the 2026 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations, as preparations intensify with a training camp shift to Morocco.

The Cubs departed for Casablanca on Saturday evening following nearly two months of residential training at the FUFA Technical Centre Njeru and in Kampala.

The squad, which will be trimmed to the final team in the coming days, is captained by Owen Mukisa of Vipers SC Junior Team.

Uganda will use the Morocco camp to fine-tune preparations, including two international friendlies against Mozambique on May 5 and Mali on May 9, as they acclimatise to match conditions ahead of the tournament kickoff on May 13.

Drawn in Group B, Uganda faces a tough challenge against Ivory Coast, Cameroon and DR Congo in a tournament where qualification stakes are high. All quarter-finalists will automatically secure slots at the FIFA U-17 World Cup, with two additional teams qualifying via playoffs.

The Cubs head into the competition buoyed by confidence following their historic run at the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup, where they reached the Round of 16 with notable victories over France and Senegal.
