Kampala, Uganda: The Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), Hadijah Namyalo, on Friday intensified mobilization efforts ahead of the upcoming swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Yoweri Kaguta Museveni by leading a major sanitation and cleaning exercise at Kalerwe Market.
The exercise attracted hundreds of vendors, youth, and residents who joined the clean-up campaign aimed at improving hygiene and sanitation standards in one of Kampala’s busiest commercial hubs.
Upon arrival at the market, Namyalo was welcomed by market leaders and vendors, many praising her continued engagement with ordinary Ugandans through grassroots mobilization activities.
During interactions with traders, several vendors appealed to the ONC boss to relay their concerns to President Museveni, particularly regarding access to business capital and economic empowerment opportunities.
“We only need empowerment and support to expand our businesses. If we get financial assistance, we can transform our lives and take care of our families,” one vendor told Namyalo during the engagement.
The traders explained that despite working hard daily, limited access to startup and expansion capital continues to affect business growth and household incomes.
More Empowerment Programs After Swearing-In

Responding to the concerns, Namyalo assured vendors that government under President Museveni has already prioritized wealth creation and empowerment programs targeting ordinary Ugandans.
She revealed that after the President’s inauguration next week, additional empowerment initiatives targeting youth, women and market vendors will be rolled out across the country.
“President Museveni has many plans for Ugandans after the swearing-in, especially programs intended to uplift wananchi from poverty into wealth creation,” Namyalo said. “The future is bright for the Bazzukulu who are ready to work and support government programs.”
Her remarks sparked excitement among vendors, many of whom broke into chants praising both President Museveni and the ONC leadership.
Several traders commended Namyalo’s leadership style, describing her as one of the few political leaders who directly interacts with ordinary citizens instead of remaining confined to offices.
“Hajjat Namyalo is different. She comes to the people, listens to us, cleans with us, and understands our struggles,” one female vendor remarked.

Mobilization for Kololo Inauguration
For hours, Namyalo moved through different sections of the market participating in the cleaning exercise, greeting vendors and encouraging residents to embrace cleanliness, unity and community responsibility.
She later used the event to rally support for President Museveni’s swearing-in ceremony scheduled for Tuesday at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.
“We want all Bazzukulu to come and celebrate this historic moment with their newly elected President,” Namyalo urged. “Let us come together in unity and support the leadership that is committed to transforming Uganda.”
The ONC has in recent months intensified grassroots mobilization campaigns across different parts of the country under Namyalo’s leadership, focusing on youth empowerment, community engagement and support for President Museveni’s re-election agenda.
