Namisindwa, Uganda: Namisindwa District LC5 Chairperson-elect Bwayo Emma is expected to be sworn into office on Friday, May 15, following preparations by the district transition planning committee.

The planned swearing-in follows government guidelines issued on the takeover and handover of local governments after President Museveni’s swearing-in ceremony, which officially marks the end of the current government term.

According to the directive, Members of Parliament will be sworn in between May 13 and 15 at Parliament, while swearing-in ceremonies for local government leaders are scheduled to take place between May 13 and 29.

In Namisindwa, district officials have resolved to hold the ceremony at the district headquarters on Friday.

Bwayo said the tentative date had been agreed upon pending final confirmation from incoming Chief Administrative Officer Joseph Lomogin following the transfer of outgoing CAO Leonard Kitavunja. “This is the day the Lord has made, and we expect members of the public to join us and witness this historic event.”

He added that preparations were also ongoing at lower local government levels, including sub-counties, to ensure a smooth assumption of office by newly elected leaders.

Meanwhile, Namisindwa Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Mathias Isabirye said another planning meeting had been scheduled for Friday evening to harmonise final arrangements ahead of the ceremony.

“We are committed to ensuring a smooth transition process and proper facilitation of the swearing-in activities,” Isabirye said.
