Kampala, Uganda: Pan-African Pyramid has confirmed the late Rajiv Ruparelia will be honoured with a prestigious Humanitarian Award during the 9th Pan-African Pyramid Global Awards 2026 and 12th Anniversary Dinner scheduled for August 29 at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
In an official statement released by the Office of PAP Speaker Mr Andrew Irumba, the Pan-African Pyramid Awards Committee said the decision was reached unanimously in recognition of Rajiv Ruparelia’s humanitarian contribution across Africa and beyond.
According to Mr Irumba, Rajiv’s legacy continues to resonate through his support toward education, healthcare, sports development, youth empowerment, charity initiatives and community transformation programmes.
“Rajiv impacted countless lives and inspired a generation of young African entrepreneurs and philanthropists,” he noted.
The organisers said the award seeks to recognise his role in promoting social impact and humanitarian outreach among young Africans.
Meanwhile, Dr Sudhir Ruparelia, chairman of the Ruparelia Group, together with his wife Jyotsna Ruparelia and other family members, have also confirmed attendance at the event to receive the award on behalf of the late businessman.
Rajiv Ruparelia, who served as a director within the Ruparelia Group, was widely known for his involvement in real estate, hospitality, sports and youth initiatives before his death earlier this year.
In recent weeks, several tribute activities have been organised in his honour.
On May 3, Uganda’s motorsport community organised a procession from RR Pearl Tower to Speke Resort Munyonyo under the theme “Restoring Hope, Honouring a Legacy, Changing Lives.”
The event also featured a prosthetic leg donation drive at Mulago National Referral Hospital aimed at supporting amputees and vulnerable patients.
Last year, The Living Group commissioned a new borehole in Naguru in tribute to Rajiv, while additional free eye camps and community health initiatives were also organised in his memory.
The Pan-African Pyramid said this year’s awards edition would integrate a broader humanitarian agenda inspired by Rajiv’s legacy, including support initiatives targeting displaced and vulnerable communities across Africa.
Several high-profile guests are expected to attend the awards dinner, including African leaders, diplomats, entrepreneurs, media personalities and cultural figures from across the continent and the diaspora.
Among those expected is Zimbabwean Pan-Africanist Joshua Maponga Marara III.
According to Andrew Irumba, the founding Speaker of Pan-African Pyramid, the event will not only celebrate Rajiv Ruparelia’s humanitarian legacy but also promote African-driven philanthropy, unity and transformation.
Pan-African Pyramid describes itself as a Ugandan-based intellectual and non-partisan discussion platform promoting Pan-Africanism, patriotism and nationalism among African youth.
Founded by Andrew Irumba Katusabe, the organisation aims to revive African values, promote economic unity and recognise individuals contributing toward African empowerment through its annual global awards held in Kampala.
