Mbarara, Uganda: Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has revealed that the new Non-Individual Register (NIR) system is aimed at simplifying entity registration, eliminating duplication, and improving transparency across government agencies.
The remarks were brought about during a stakeholder engagement held at Las Vegas Hotel in Mbarara City, where leaders from the Greater Ankole sub-region gathered to discuss the rollout of the new registration framework.
The meeting attracted Chief Administrative Officers (CAOs), District Commercial Officers, Community Development Officers (CDOs), as well as religious and cultural leaders from across the region.
According to URSB Board Chairman Francis Butagira, the Non-Individual Register is designed to replace fragmented registration systems that previously required organizations and entities to register separately with multiple government agencies.
The new centralized system is expected to streamline registration and management of entities including NGOs, companies, SACCOs, cooperatives, associations, and community-based organizations.
Officials explained that the reforms will help eliminate duplication of records, strengthen inter-agency coordination, improve accountability, and simplify access to government services.
Speaking at the same engagement, URSB Commissioner Arthur Kwesiga emphasized that the register forms part of wider government efforts to modernize public service delivery and improve efficiency within the registration system.
He further noted that the digitalized framework would improve data accuracy, ease verification processes, and enhance transparency in entity management across the country.
Mbarara stakeholders welcomed the initiative, saying it could reduce bureaucracy and delays often experienced by organizations dealing with multiple registration requirements.
RCC Dickson Katwaza urged local leaders and technical officers to support sensitization campaigns to ensure communities and organizations fully understand the benefits and requirements of the new system.
The engagement is part of URSB’s ongoing nationwide awareness campaign ahead of the full implementation of the Non-Individual Register system.
