Kampala, Uganda: Uganda is set to host the prestigious Digital Government Africa (DGA) Summit 2026, a major continental technology and governance conference expected to bring together African ICT ministers, policymakers, regulators, investors, innovators and global technology companies.
The three-day summit will take place from October 6 to 8, 2026, at the prestigious Speke Resort and Convention Centre, Munyonyo, positioning Uganda at the centre of Africa’s growing digital transformation agenda.
Organised under the patronage of the Government of Uganda through the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, in partnership with the National Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-U) and African Brains Global, the summit is expected to attract hundreds of delegates from across Africa and beyond.
Running under the theme “Accelerating Africa’s Digital Transformation of Government,” the event will focus on practical strategies for modernising public service delivery and expanding digital public infrastructure across the continent.
Key discussions will centre on next-generation e-government systems, digital identity programmes, artificial intelligence governance, data sovereignty, cybersecurity resilience and cloud infrastructure.
The summit comes at a time when African governments are increasingly embracing technology to improve service delivery, strengthen transparency, expand financial inclusion and drive economic growth.
ICT and National Guidance Minister Dr Chris Baryomunsi described Uganda’s selection as host as a strong endorsement of the country’s digital transformation efforts and growing reputation as a regional technology leader.
“This summit provides an important platform for Uganda to showcase its progress in digital government, innovation and ICT-enabled public service delivery while engaging with other African countries on shared opportunities and challenges,” he said.
Uganda’s hosting rights follow its widely praised participation at the 2025 Digital Government Africa Summit in Lusaka, Zambia, where the country showcased several digital transformation initiatives and government technology solutions.
According to organisers, the summit will feature ministerial roundtables, technical workshops, innovation showcases and business-to-government (B2G) engagements aimed at fostering partnerships between governments, technology providers and investors.
The event is also expected to highlight Uganda’s National Data Strategy, which seeks to strengthen data governance, improve digital service delivery and support evidence-based policymaking.
Officials say the summit presents an opportunity to attract new investments into Uganda’s digital infrastructure ecosystem while positioning the country as a key player in Africa’s emerging GovTech landscape.
Delegates will also discuss continental interoperability, digital inclusion, cybersecurity preparedness and mechanisms for ensuring that emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence are deployed responsibly and safely within government systems.
NITA-U and the Ministry of ICT have already commenced preparations for the event, with organisers projecting that the summit will generate actionable policy recommendations and investment commitments to support Africa’s digital transformation agenda.
As governments across the continent race to digitise public services and build resilient digital economies, Uganda’s hosting of DGA 2026 is expected to further elevate the country’s profile as a growing hub for innovation, technology and digital governance.
