Kampala, Uganda: The Police in Kampala have arrested two suspects in connection with the viral daylight robbery in Nsambya that was captured on CCTV and widely shared on social media, showing motorcycle-riding assailants snatching millions of shillings from officials of Riverside Forex Bureau.
The suspects, Kamoga Yudah alias “Sparta” and Kayabula Arnold, were arrested on Friday as detectives intensified investigations into the May 6 robbery that left Kampala residents questioning the boldness of organised criminal gangs operating in broad daylight.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the robbery occurred after officials of Riverside Forex Bureau exchanged USD 13,000 for Shs45.18 million before they were intercepted and attacked by assailants in Nsambya.
The incident attracted widespread public attention after CCTV footage surfaced online showing the suspects trailing and attacking the victims before fleeing with the cash.
Investigations later led police to a motorcycle bearing registration number UMA 655GK, whose number plate was allegedly forged to conceal the identity of the motorcycle used in the robbery.
On Friday, detectives recovered another motorcycle, registration number UMA 602KK, believed to have been directly used in the commission of the crime.
“Today, 12th June 2026, Police arrested Kamoga Yudah alias ‘Sparta’ and Kayabula Arnold, a boda boda rider, in connection with the robbery. A motorcycle registration number UMA 602KK, believed to be linked to the case, was also recovered,” Owoyesigyire said.
The suspects remain in custody as police hunt for other members of the gang believed to have participated in the operation.
The breakthrough comes weeks after the robbery video sparked public outrage and renewed calls for tighter regulation of criminal gangs using motorcycles to target individuals carrying large sums of money in Kampala.
