Kamuli, Uganda: The Bishop of Busoga Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Prof. Grace Lubaale has called on women to remain steadfast in their Christian faith and committed to their marriages, saying strong families are key to building stable communities.
Bishop Lubaale made the remarks while presiding over Kamuli Mother’s Day celebrations held at St. Paul Church of Uganda in Bukwenge Zone, Kamuli Municipality, on Saturday, June 20, 2026.
Addressing women under the Mothers’ Union, the bishop said their role extends beyond household responsibilities and challenged them to anchor their homes on Christian values amid growing social pressures.
“Be firm in Christ and be firm in your marriages. A woman rooted in God will raise a generation that fears God. Do not allow the pressures of today to break what God has joined,” Bishop Lubaale said.
He reminded mothers that patience, prayer and forgiveness remain essential tools in resolving family conflicts and nurturing peaceful homes.
The celebrations attracted large numbers of women from various parishes across Kamuli Municipality, many dressed in the traditional Mothers’ Union uniform.
Kamuli Municipality Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Mastula Namatovu, urged women to use their influence positively within their families and communities.
“As mothers, you have influence. Use it to promote peace, education, and hard work in your homes. A changed mother means a changed family and a changed community,” Hon. Namatovu said.
She pledged continued support for programmes aimed at empowering women economically and spiritually.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Fathers’ Union in Nabwigulu, Hon. Charles Magaya, expressed concern over growing marital challenges and called upon couples to embrace dialogue and reconciliation.
“Let us stop the actions that destroy homes. When there is a problem, sit down, talk, and reconcile. Marriage is for better and for worse,” Magaya said.
Church leaders at St. Paul Church of Uganda said the annual Mother’s Day celebrations provide an important platform to reaffirm the role of women as pillars of both the family and the church.
