Copenhagen, Denmark: The Uganda Embassy in Copenhagen has launched a major tourism promotion campaign aimed at positioning Uganda as a leading travel destination for tourists from Denmark and the wider Nordic region.

Dubbed “Explore Uganda,” the outdoor advertising campaign has been rolled out across key public transport routes in the Danish capital, targeting thousands of daily commuters and international travellers.

The initiative was launched by Uganda’s Ambassador to Denmark, Margaret M. Otesskov, as part of efforts to increase Uganda’s visibility in the Nordic market and attract more visitors seeking nature, adventure, wildlife and cultural tourism experiences.

According to the Embassy, the campaign showcases some of Uganda’s most iconic attractions, including mountain gorillas, the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains, tree-climbing lions, diverse cultural heritage and unique culinary experiences.

Officials say the campaign is designed to raise destination awareness among travellers looking for authentic and sustainable tourism experiences.

“The campaign seeks to boost destination awareness among travellers interested in nature, adventure, wildlife and cultural tourism,” the Embassy said in a statement.

The launch comes at a time when Uganda’s tourism sector is experiencing strong recovery and growth, supported by increasing international visitor arrivals and renewed global interest in the country’s tourism offerings.

Recent statistics indicate that international arrivals through Entebbe International Airport have continued to rise steadily, reinforcing Uganda’s reputation as a preferred destination for tourism, business travel and conferences.

Tourism remains one of Uganda’s leading foreign exchange earners and a key contributor to employment and economic growth.

The Embassy expressed optimism that the campaign will strengthen Uganda’s visibility across Denmark and the broader Nordic region, encouraging more travellers to visit and experience the country’s diverse attractions.

Uganda has in recent years intensified international tourism marketing efforts under the “Explore Uganda, The Pearl of Africa” brand, targeting key source markets in Europe, North America, Asia and the Middle East.

The Copenhagen campaign will help tap into the growing Nordic travel market, where demand for eco-tourism, wildlife experiences, and adventure travel continues to increase.

The Embassy says it will continue working with tourism stakeholders, travel operators and destination marketers to promote Uganda as one of Africa’s most attractive tourism destinations.
