Kampala, Uganda: The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has initiated discussions with Cente Tech, the technology services arm of Centenary Group, to explore a strategic partnership aimed at accelerating digital innovation and expanding access to government business registration services.

The meeting, held on Monday at the URSB headquarters, was led by Registrar General Mercy K. Kainobwisho and brought together a delegation from Cente Tech headed by Chief Executive Officer Dr. Grace Ssekakubo.

According to URSB, the discussions focused on identifying opportunities for collaboration that will strengthen digital service delivery and improve public access to the bureau’s services.

“URSB, led by Registrar General Ms. Mercy K. Kainobwisho, today hosted a strategic meeting with Centenary Technology Services, led by CEO Dr. Grace Ssekakubo, alongside CTO Peter Kahiigi and Esther Lule (IT Services Delivery), to explore collaboration in digital innovation and expanding access to URSB services. Together, we are driving smarter public service delivery,” the bureau said in a statement via its official X platform.

The engagement comes as URSB continues implementing its digital transformation agenda aimed at making services such as business registration, intellectual property administration, civil registration, secured transactions and insolvency services more efficient, accessible and customer-centred.

Over the past several years, the bureau has invested heavily in online registration systems, electronic filing platforms and digital authentication technologies to reduce turnaround times, improve transparency and enhance the ease of doing business in Uganda.

Cente Tech, a subsidiary of the Centenary Group, provides technology solutions in digital banking, cybersecurity, enterprise software, cloud computing, systems integration and digital transformation for both public and private sector institutions.

The proposed collaboration between government agencies and indigenous technology firms is becoming increasingly important as Uganda advances the implementation of the Digital Transformation Roadmap and expands electronic government services.

The discussions also align with government’s broader efforts to leverage innovation and technology to improve public service delivery, enhance operational efficiency and support the country’s digital economy agenda.

While neither institution disclosed specific projects expected to emerge from the meeting, both URSB and Cente Tech expressed optimism that closer collaboration will contribute to smarter, faster, and more accessible services for Ugandans.
