Kampala, Uganda: Victoria University Vice Chancellor Dr. Lawrence Muganga has pledged to secure an electronic wheelchair for a resilient Makerere University Business School (MUBS) student who lost both legs, saying the young man’s courage and determination inspired him to take personal action.
Dr. Muganga made the commitment after meeting Quraish Kasozi, popular as MC Quraish, a second-year MUBS student, during what he described as one of the most emotional and inspiring encounters of his life.
“Yesterday I experienced one of the most moving moments of my life as I finally met Quraish Kasozi, a courageous young brother who had patiently waited a long time for us to connect,” Dr. Muganga posted in an emotional statement via X on Friday, July 03, 2026.
The Vice Chancellor said he was deeply touched by Kasozi’s optimism despite the life-changing disability, noting that the student has refused to let the loss of both his legs define his future.
“From the moment we started talking, I was struck by Kasozi’s positive outlook. Although he lost both of his legs, he never lets that define him. He faces each day with remarkable determination, courage and hope,” he said.
Reflecting on the meeting, Dr. Muganga said Kasozi’s resilience demonstrated that true strength lies in one’s attitude toward adversity rather than physical ability. “Spending time with him reminded me that true strength is not always physical. Sometimes, it is found in the way we choose to face life’s challenges,” he added.
Dr. Muganga also commended Makerere University Business School for providing Kasozi with an opportunity to pursue higher education while supporting him throughout his academic journey.
“Kasozi is a dedicated second-year student, and I would like to thank MUBS for giving him the opportunity to pursue his education and for supporting him throughout his journey. Your commitment to inclusive education is helping him build a brighter future,” he said.

To ease Kasozi’s daily mobility challenges, Dr. Muganga pledged to help him acquire an electronic wheelchair, describing the initiative as a personal responsibility.
“While his spirit is unbreakable, I believe we must do everything we can to make his daily life a little easier. An electronic wheelchair would give Kasozi the freedom and independence he deserves and make it much easier for him to get around,” he said.
“Figuring out how to get one for him is now my personal homework, and I am committed to seeing it through.”

Dr. Muganga concluded by encouraging Kasozi to continue believing in himself and pursuing his dreams.
“Kasozi, thank you for welcoming me as your friend. It was an honour to spend time with you and hear your story. I pray that God continues to bless you, strengthen you and guide you every step of the way. Keep believing in yourself. Your spirit has inspired me, and I will be cheering you on every step of the way.”
Muganga’s pledge has been widely welcomed by supporters, who say the gesture highlights the importance of promoting inclusion and supporting persons with disabilities to achieve their full potential.
