Kampala, Uganda: The Senior Presidential Advisor and Manager of the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo Uzeiye, on Tuesday intensified grassroots mobilisation in Makindye Division by monitoring the ongoing voter registration and voter register verification exercise ahead of the forthcoming Local Council (LC) and Women Council elections.
Hajjat Namyalo’s mobilisation tour began in Lubowa Village, Kibuli Parish, before extending to Hospital Zone and Kitawuluzi Village in Nsambya Central, where she interacted with residents, aspiring local leaders and women candidates preparing to contest in the grassroots polls.
Addressing residents at the different centres, Namyalo, fondly known as the Chief Muzzukulu, urged Ugandans, particularly the Bazzukulu, to actively participate in the electoral process by verifying their details on the voters’ register and turning up to elect leaders committed to improving service delivery at the village level.
She emphasized that active participation in the elections is essential for strengthening grassroots leadership and ensuring communities are represented by leaders who understand local challenges.
Namyalo also encouraged voters to support National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidates, arguing that leaders who work closely with the ruling government are better positioned to coordinate government programmes and attract development initiatives to their communities.
During her engagement in Nsambya Central, several women leaders and NRM flag bearers commended Namyalo for maintaining close contact with grassroots communities and consistently championing government empowerment programmes.

One of the aspiring local leaders, Nasuuna Lukia, said Namyalo’s visit had boosted the confidence of NRM candidates and demonstrated the Office of the National Chairman’s continued commitment to supporting communities.
“Namyalo has come to show us that we, the NRM candidates, are working closely with the ONC. If elected, we shall work with the office to link our communities to President Museveni’s wealth creation programmes,” Lukia said.
Speaking to women leaders, Namyalo reaffirmed the ONC’s commitment to promoting women’s economic empowerment, saying financially independent women play a critical role in transforming households and communities.
She encouraged voters to elect leaders who are compassionate, transparent and genuinely committed to serving the interests of the people.
Namyalo also criticized opposition politicians, accusing them of focusing on opposing government programmes instead of supporting initiatives intended to improve the welfare of ordinary Ugandans.
On her stop in Kitawuluzi Village, residents raised concerns over delays in accessing Parish Development Model (PDM) funds despite having completed the required registration process.

Some residents told the ONC manager that although they had fulfilled all the eligibility requirements, they had not received the financial support intended to boost household incomes under the government programme.

Responding to the concerns, Namyalo expressed dissatisfaction over the reported delays, noting that government had already released funds for the Parish Development Model.
She pledged to engage the relevant authorities to establish why eligible beneficiaries had not received the money and promised to follow up on the matter until it is resolved.
Namyalo assured residents that every eligible beneficiary should access the government support intended to improve livelihoods under President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s wealth creation agenda.
She said the ONC’s continued monitoring of voter registration and direct engagement with communities forms part of broader efforts to encourage public participation in the upcoming grassroots elections while ensuring wananchi fully benefit from government programmes.
The Electoral Commission is currently conducting the voter register verification exercise ahead of the Local Council I and II and Women Council elections scheduled later this month, with leaders across the country mobilising citizens to confirm their registration details before polling day.
