Jinja, (UG): President Yoweri Museveni Saturday donated a customary gift of 20 cows to the Kyabazinga of Busoga Isebantu William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV and the Inhebantu Jovia Mutesi Nadiope after the newlyweds exchanged vows in an historic Royal Wedding at Bugembe Cathedral in Jinja City.
H.E Museveni who skipped attending Busoga’s first royal wedding in nearly 70 years at the last minute was represented by his Vice, Maj (Rtd) Jessica Alupo and in his remarks emphasized the desire for cross-cultural and regional unity if the country is to grow and reach further heights.
“All cultural leaders should use their status to urge unity and expose our interconnectedness both in Uganda and at the East African level. We’re all descendants of other indigenous African people,” Museveni’s message read before thousands of guests who converged at Christ’s Church Cathedral in Bugembe to witness the royal wedding.
The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Rt. Rev Dr Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu who preached at the royal wedding called upon youths to embrace the Kyabazinga who chose to marry the Inhebantu and voiced against the LGBTQ acts which have become a talk of the town in the country.
“Marriage should only be between one man and one woman not man and man or woman and woman,” Dr Kaziimba noted.
“This wedding has made a statement that this kingdom celebrates marriage. Even President Museveni and Janet at their 50th anniversary made a statement that Uganda respects marriage.”

From the cathedral, the Kyabazinga and his new Queen, the Inebantu of Busoga made a procession through Jinja City as the royal couple headed to Igenge Palace where they welcomed thousands of guests at a mass wedding reception.
The Kyabazinga Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV in his remarks to the guests expressed special gratitude towards the former speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga for her role in the grand royal wedding and mentoring him to reach such a landmark.
“I want to thank my mother Rebecca Kadaga for all that she has done including the mentorship classes she has offered me to be the person that I am today.”
Other guests at the Royal Wedding included the first son, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba and Queen Mother of Tooro, Her Majesty Best Kemigisa, among others.
