Pallisa, (UG):- The Pallisa County NRM hopeful aspirant, Ibrahim Ibrahim Aisu, on Saturday pulled a crowd of over 10,000 people, which the 50 tents, each seating 100, could not shelter.

Aisu, who was the former LC5 Vice Chairperson when he represented the district council, is the patron of a weekly contribution initiative of cash and other household items (kasaale).

During the function at the Busitema University Pallisa Campus playground, members contribute cash and other basic household items on a rotational basis.

“Today is my turn for kasaale to be supported. Being a leader in the position of Pallisa Kasaale president of the 148 groups and having projected the number of attendees, I brought them here. However, many people saw it as a function for my candidature for the NRM ticket, which is also advantageous to me,” Aisu said.

Former Pallisa Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Judith Amoit, who supported Hon. Ibrahim Ibrahim Aisu with one million shillings, said Pallisa needs leaders who are down-to-earth and connected with the people, not pretenders.

“I arrived late because I am now a serious farmer who encourages everyone to work hard and join the fight against household poverty,” Amoit said.

Magid Tukei, a resident of Kalaki in Pallisa Town Council, said Aisu has been close to the people since the 2021 elections, which is why they are rallying behind him.

The decision by Hon. Sam Otukol, aka Samix, the current MP of Pallisa, to exit the race and opt for Agule was the best decision, as he couldn’t handle the pressure here.

Mrs. Ikilai Kadijah, whose kasaale group has been strengthened by Hon. Aisu, said the initiative helps members acquire good utensils, bedding, pay school fees, and start manageable businesses. “Aisu has been a significant funder for this project, and we pray that the people of Pallisa County mandate him as their MP,” she said.

Pastor David Waswa, the Executive Director of Golden Arm Ltd, a company that exports skilled and unskilled labor to Middle Eastern countries, was the chief guest. He appreciated Hon. Aisu for being a community-centered person.

“I admire this young man because he is a true patriot who has served across religions and tribes. Pallisa is a unique district with multiple tribes and religious sects, and Aisu is committed to all of them.”

Waswa added that he would simplify the process of youth from Pallisa travelling to Qatar, Dubai, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and other Middle Eastern countries because of Aisu, whom he pledged to support in the NRM primaries. He urged the large gathering to go out and preach the gospel of Ibrahim Ibrahim Aisu Waisu.

John Okello from Putiputi Sub-county said that since he grew up and started engaging in politics in 2001, he has never attended a function where over 10,000 people were fed and even packed rice to take home.

“The only function that rivals this one in terms of feeding was when President Museveni came for PDM monitoring in Kamuge, but that was state-funded, unlike this one,” Okello said.

Rashid Gashiodo, a member of the organizing committee of Team Aisu Waisu Fans (TAWF), said their success in feeding the people was due to food being distributed to groups in their respective sub-counties.
