Katakwi, Uganda: Dan Mulalu, a Senior Private Secretary to President Yoweri Museveni in charge of Political Affairs and Service Delivery, has emerged as the frontrunner for the Ngariam County parliamentary seat in the 2026 general elections.
A trusted aide of the President and a staunch cadre of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), Mulalu has steadily won the hearts of voters across Ngariam through a hands-on approach to service delivery, development, and community empowerment.
Despite not yet holding elective office, Mulalu has already rolled out impactful projects across the constituency. Over the past year alone, he has facilitated the repair of more than 145 boreholes, installed 52 solar panels in primary schools, distributed the new curriculum books to all learning institutions, and supplied cassava cuttings to promote food security among schools and communities.
He has also lit up several urban centers in the constituency with solar-powered streetlights, an effort widely hailed by residents for improving security and business operations at night.
Mulalu’s deep roots in the community, born and raised in Acegelekine village, Acanga parish, have further strengthened his bond with constituents. “He is the only one who relates with us, the ordinary people,” said a market vendor in Ngariam Town. His proximity to the people, both in Kampala and back home, has earned him wide admiration, particularly among the youth who regard him as a mentor and connector.
The aspiring MP has positioned himself as a unifier, steering clear of divisive politics and championing peaceful, value-based leadership. His message of rejecting violence and deceit in politics has resonated strongly with the electorate, many of whom are yearning for transformative leadership rooted in integrity and humility.

Religious and cultural leaders in the district also praise Mulalu’s devotion to traditional values and family. Known for his calm demeanor and respect for elders, he is widely viewed as a bridge between the grassroots and national leadership.
Mulalu’s growing popularity is also boosted by his visible presence and execution of the President’s assignments in the Teso sub-region, roles he carries out discreetly but effectively. His influence and access within the State House corridors of power give him a strategic edge, particularly in lobbying for government interventions and development programs.
His expected endorsement as the NRM flag bearer in Ngariam has all but sealed the momentum around his candidature. Political observers and locals alike now predict a landslide victory, citing his unmatched community engagement and delivery track record.
As the 2026 elections draw closer, Ngariam Constituency appears united behind a leader they describe as focused, reliable, and deeply invested in their progress.
