Kitagwenda, Uganda: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Sunday wrapped up his mobilization tour of the Tooro Sub-region with a rally in Kitagwenda District, urging citizens to prioritize income-generating activities at household level under the Parish Development Model (PDM).

The President commended the people of Tooro for rejecting rebellion and maintaining peace, emphasizing that stability is the foundation for meaningful development.

“We have succeeded because of our collective efforts toward peace. This region has consistently rejected rebellion, and for that I thank you,” he told the gathering.

Museveni said that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) is strongly committed to the politics of interest, where all Ugandans benefit regardless of tribe or religion. He emphasized that the focus must now shift to fighting household poverty through structured programs like the PDM.

“The PDM is giving each parish 100 million shillings annually so families can engage in productive work. Roads and electricity are important, but without financial stability in homes, that infrastructure won’t change lives,” Museveni noted.

The President also reaffirmed the government’s pledge to strengthen the free education policy, revealing plans to hire more teachers and build additional classrooms to meet growing demand.

Museveni’s tour across the Tooro Sub-region is part of his broader nationwide campaign to popularize the PDM as a transformative strategy aimed at lifting millions of Ugandans into the money economy.
