Kampala, Uganda: The Federation of Uganda Football Associations has fined SC Villa Shs1 million following acts of hooliganism by its supporters during a Uganda Premier League match against Vipers SC earlier this month.
The sanction was issued by the FUFA Disciplinary Panel after a sitting held on April 22 at FUFA House in Mengo, where Villa fans were found guilty of disorderly conduct during the April 15 encounter that ended in a 1-1 draw.
According to FUFA, the match was marred by chaotic scenes in the stands, with sections of supporters involved in confrontations that disrupted the game environment.
“Clubs are responsible for the behaviour of their fans,” FUFA noted, citing provisions under its disciplinary regulations, including Rule 48(9) of the Competitions Rules and Article 14 of the Ethics and Disciplinary Code.
The club has been ordered to pay the fine within 14 days and warned that repeat offences could attract stiffer sanctions.
During the match, SC Villa president Omar Mandela was seen attempting to calm agitated supporters as tensions escalated.
In separate rulings, FUFA also sanctioned Goldstar H/S Ladies FC for failing to honour a FUFA Women Elite League fixture against Lira City Queens FC on April 4. The club forfeited the match and was docked six points and six goals.
Similarly, Mbale Heroes FC was penalised for failing to honour its FUFA Big League fixture against Kigezi Home Boyz FC on April 19. The panel dismissed the club’s explanation and handed it a three-point and three-goal deduction.
Kigezi Home Boyz were consequently awarded the points and goals, boosting their promotion push to 45 points, three ahead of second-placed Blacks Power FC, as the race for promotion to the Uganda Premier League intensifies.
FUFA said the disciplinary measures are part of broader efforts to enforce compliance, uphold matchday order, and strengthen professionalism across Uganda’s domestic competitions.
