Final: Uganda vs Tanzania
DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania: Uganda’s U17 women’s national team, the Teen Cranes, booked their place in the CECAFA U17 Women’s Championship final after a commanding 3-0 victory over Kenya in Sunday’s semifinal clash.
The defending champions produced a dominant display at Chamazi Stadium to eliminate their regional rivals and keep alive their hopes of retaining the title.
Shadia Nabirye gave Uganda the breakthrough before Immaculate Acen doubled the advantage to put the Teen Cranes firmly in control of the contest.
Kenya’s woes were compounded when defender Jael Samiyu turned the ball into her own net, sealing a convincing 3-0 victory for Uganda.
The result handed Uganda sweet revenge against Kenya, who knocked the Teen Cranes out of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers last month.
With the victory, Uganda advances to Tuesday’s final where they will face hosts Tanzania, who brushed aside South Sudan 4-0 in the other semifinal.

The Teen Cranes head into the final in impressive form after maintaining their perfect record in the tournament.
Uganda topped Group B with a maximum nine points from three matches and did not concede a single goal throughout the group stage.
The Teen Cranes opened their campaign with a resounding 13-0 victory over Djibouti before defeating Zanzibar 3-0 and South Sudan 4-0 to finish top of the group.
Their attacking prowess has been one of the standout features of the tournament. Uganda scored 20 goals in the group stage and added three more against Kenya to take their tally to 23 goals heading into the final.
Forward Shadia Nabirye has continued to shine throughout the competition and played a key role once again as Uganda moved one step closer to defending their regional crown.
